Parents, your children are not your best friends, you are the parents. It is so stupid and nonsensical when we keep on hearing 'oh, my child is my best friend'. Please give us a break!! Please stop this stupid idea and come back to reality.
This fantasy of yours is why most kids aren't turning out right, who makes the rules? who set the boundaries? How did we get to this place? The era of talk-shows hosts and their so called experts brought this in. When we have common sense on parenting taken out and someone who do not have a clue about parenting started telling us how to do it, and some people took it in hook, line and sinker.
A parent is suppose to lay down the rule and for your child to follow it, a girlfriend do not go by your rule. Some parents are so afraid to loose their 'best friend' because of this stupid idea. You easily hear their kids telling them to 'shut up'; how can your child utter such statement to you the parents? This will happen when the line between parent and child has been crossed, and best friend is in place.
